Broadcast Troubleshooting
Can’t See Yourself or Your Viewers Can’t See You
This is a common problem due to flash programs and internet browsers.
- Make sure your webcam is properly connected and you that you have chosen the right webcam source from the drop box before clicking “Start Broadcast!”
- Be sure to exit out of all applications that use a webcam: Gmail Video Chat, Skype, etc.
- An Adobe Flash Settings will appear for you to click “Accept” or “Deny.” If it doesn’t appear, please go to Adobe Flash Help to manually change the settings.
- If you still can’t see yourself through http://uvidy.com, please go to http://www.mailvu.com to test if it’s still the Adobe Flash problem.
- If you’re using a Mac and cannot see yourself at both websites above, then make sure you have the most updated version of Adobe Flash Player. You can download it here.
- Google Chrome web browser is highly recommended as it already includes Adobe Flash Player built-in. Usually, using Google Chrome and Uvidy together solves the problem. Download it here.
- If the problem persists, please contact us and an Uvidy Team member will be glad to assist you.
Can’t Get Your Microphone to Work
- Make sure your microphone is properly connected and that you have chosen the right microphone source from the drop box before clicking “Start Broadcast!”
- Check to see if your mic works by right clicking (ctrl+click for Macs) on the video and clicking on “Settings…” to enter the Adobe Flash Settings. Click on the microphone tab to ensure that you are using the right source. Try talking into your mic (or the computer if it’s built-in), and if you see a green bar that means it is working.
- You can also go directly into your control panel (system preferences for Macs) to make any adjustments for the audio and microphone input.
- If the problem persists, please contact us and an Uvidy Team member will be glad to assist you.
Options for Off-line Broadcasting
You can have a photo, slideshow or a recorded video uploaded to appear in the broadcasting area when you’re off-line. This will allow viewers to still see who you are and what you do for them to tip, donate and buy products/services.
- Click the “Edit” tab as if you are about to broadcast
- Go to the bottom where it states “Idle Graphic”
- Upload a photo or a video
